After two months of pre-production, castings and rehearsals The Postman was shot over two glorious days in July 2005. Cast and crew camped on a friend’s farm near the shoot location in Sussex. Being self financed everyone worked for free but with spit roasts, a stunning location, sunshine and exceptional catering a fine time was had by all. We shot from dawn till dusk on both days and despite a massive amount of set ups we managed to get all the shots we needed. We wanted to capture the natural beauty of the English countryside and thanks in part to the weather and to a great DP in Ross Mclennan we did just that. Committed to super16mm, graded and then transferred to 35mm the film looks almost as exquisite as when we were actually there.
